I served as a rotational Canadian Foreign Service Officer from 1992 to 2022, with assignments in Caracas, Jakarta, Santiago, Beijing, Bangalore, Kabul, and Havana. During my career I worked as a Management Consular Officer, Trade Commissioner, and Regional Security Program Manager. Between postings I served at headquarters as Deputy Director in the Operations Centre (Emergency Response and Case Management) and later as Deputy Director in the Foreign Service Directives division.
My career gave me extensive experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, often in complex and high-pressure situations. Whether assisting Canadians in distress, managing embassy operations, negotiating with foreign partners, or working in challenging environments, I developed a strong commitment to service, responsiveness, and problem-solving.
Having lived overseas for many years with my wife and two daughters, I also understand first-hand the realities of Foreign Service life—frequent moves, family considerations, and the practical implications of the Foreign Service Directives.
Today, I bring that experience to my work in real estate, particularly when assisting Foreign Service members who are purchasing property while posted abroad. I regularly manage transactions remotely using video tours, teleconferencing, and secure electronic signatures, handling everything from property research and visits to negotiations, inspections, closing, and post-closing oversight.
My goal is to make the process seamless and worry-free, providing a complete turnkey service so that your home in Ottawa is ready when you return.

- Video conferencing for viewing listings from the comfort of your home
- Personally preview properties to ensure they meet my client’s criteria
- Personally pre-inspect a property prior to a licensed inspector being contracted, to ensure it would pass an inspection rather than spending the money to learn of defects
- Work with lenders to ensure pre-approval and other financial transactions are completed efficiently (delivery of documents etc)
- Provide detailed contact information for all service providers (finance, insurance, legal, inspections, rental agents, contractors and many others)
- When required, pick up and deliver documents to various service providers
- Provide all services to conclude a transaction should buyer/seller be out of country
- Should buyer be overseas when house closes, visit property to ensure insurance requirements are met
- Help coordinate any maintenance and upgrades as required
- Assist in organizing House Hunting Trips, assist in hotels and other bookings
- Knowledgeable in FSDs, provide guidance
- Experienced home renovator, can provide project planning advice
